The Medics

So I've always been a fan of them and a month or so ago I got the opportunity to hang out with them in this abandoned house on Draper St. We sat around under the light of a battey powered lamp, drank red wine and talked about music, Skeg and god knows what else.

Anyway I got along with them quite well and thought it would be an awesome opportunity to let them join the Skeg music team by wearing our stuff. Sure they're a little different and not entirely skate punk like the general theme of Skeg but why not, like I said Skeg is all about supporting upcoming bands and skaters.

Anyway check them out, buy their music and spread the word about them they're actually some of the raddest dudes I've ever met. Below is their band bio taken from their myspace page.

A young energetic indie band with insightful songs wide in scope: quiet ambient sounds, epic build ups, breakdowns, light, shade, delicate and intense.

“The Medics sounded like early Radiohead . . . in the best possible way.” Live Review - Beat Magazine (Melbourne) Oct 09

The Medics have garnered acclaim in their hometown of Cairns, far north Queensland and are rapidly gaining a reputation across Australia for their epic, emotive songwriting style delivered through intense live performances.

Tours and supports slots have included: Something & Numbers , The Panics, The Grates, Faker, Blue King Brown, Scribe, Kisschasy, Amity Affliction, Behind Crimson Eyes and City Riots. In July 2009 the band headlined their first Queensland tour and showcased at Big Sound Live Sept 09. The Medics debuted their live show nationally in Sept/Oct 2009 as guests on the GROUNDSWELL tour (an initiative of Arts Victoria).

Their second EP "This Boat We Call Love" produced by Mark Myers from The Middle East features the focus tracks “Joseph” and “Her Song” and is to be released in early 2010 through Starving Kids/MGM.

Jhindu Lawrie, Charles Thomas, Andrew Thomson and Kahl Wallace arrange electric & acoustic guitars, bass, drums, glockenspiel, keyboards, percussion and 3-part vocal harmonies. The band are tight knit friends & family who take pride in writing music playing to the strengths of individual members.
